ZAKO was born in the summer of 2019 from the ashes of The Reverberati, a cult band in the surf scene of Pisa and Italy.
After making their mark with Combat Surf (Double Crown Records, 2012), the founding members launched a new project more fierce, more visceral, more free.
ZAKO’s sound is an explosive instrumental blend ranging from psycho western to space rock, touching on alternative, noise, and metal, a sonic journey that shatters the boundaries of traditional Surf Music. No rules.
In 2023: first full-length album “1” on Otitis Records.
In 2024, with the arrival of a new drummer, the lineup expanded to five members, marking a pivotal shift: the addition of synths opened up new tonal and compositional dimensions, pushing the sound into more cinematic, alien, and unsettling territories. This phase represents the beating heart of ZAKO’s sonic evolution, with a live impact that’s more powerful, spatial, and layered.
In 2025, following the departure of a guitarist, the band returned to a four-piece formation, maintaining its experimental approach and the intensity it had achieved.
Currently, ZAKO has finalized his last EP “From The Deep Abyss”, more…more aggressive, shocking live impact and fresh sounds for the genre, an innovative writing style and a unique sonic vision in the national surf landscape.
